Believe it or not, I have never actually seen the original film or it’s remake prior to this one, but that is kind of why I am so excited to see the vision Kenneth Branagh has. As an astounding Shakespearean director and actor, he is also proven to make bigger budget films work for him and tell interesting narratives for characters we didn’t think we’d care about i.e. Thor and his live-action remake of Cinderella for Disney.
With him returning to what looks like his real routes in character drama set in a minimal place and environment with a cast as strong as this, you have to be excited. His work in theater will come in handy with all of his films, but this one in particular looks to be a near perfect match. Seeing Daisy Ridley, Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Dame Judi Dench, and so many more, there has to be a bit of excitement for where he will take the “who done it” mystery.
Also, give credit to Imagine Dragons for somehow making their way into damn near every trailer I’ve seen this year. No hate, just acute observation on my part.
