Well, since Warner Brothers is rightfully about sue Universal for the name Dark Universe, a name given to WB’s Justice League Dark sector of their comic properties, it was a little confusing when Universal decided to call their monster universe, you guessed it, Dark Universe. For the sake of not confusing you wonderful readers any further, let it be known that I’m referring the monster movies as just that.
Within the Monster Universe, Universal has brought on some of the most talented and noteworthy actors and actresses out there to play the iconic horror creatures. With Johnny Depp (The Invisible Man), Sofia Boutella (The Mummy), Russell Crowe (Dr. Jekyll), Javier Barden (Frankenstein’s monster), and now possibly Dwayne Johnson as The Wolfman. Nothing has been confirmed, but the Rock has been rumored for The Wolfman before almost two years ago and it appears he’s still their guy if he can fit in his always crowded schedule.
The future of the Monster Universe will rely heavily on the The Mummy’s performance this weekend as well as how well Bride of Frankenstein will do afterwards. The Wolfman reboot will be written by Dave Callaham whose work includes the 2014 reboot of Godzilla.
At this rate, we may see Johnson in Rampage, Skyscraper, Jumanji, Jungle Cruise, and now a monster movie, but still no sign of Black Adam just yet…
