I can appreciate the marketing team for the DC films learned from showing Doomsday in their final trailer of Batman v Superman. Not only did this trailer show just enough new footage to still give us a glimpse of what the film will be like, but it did so in a way that doesn’t completely ruin major details of the story. Gal Gadot looks amazing per usual as Diana, but she still doesn’t have a lot of speaking roles which makes me wonder if she’s going to be any good in the dramatic scenes, but I’ll hold out hope in Patty Jenkins’ direction to get the best out of her.
This was also a trailer that managed to incorporate a popular song without making the trailer cheesy in any way. Warriors by Imagine Dragons was a perfect for the tone for the trailer which adds to the playlist of songs that have worked perfectly for DC’s slate of films.
Chris Pine looks terrific as usual and will probably be more a speaking character to carry Gadot’s lack of acting chops. Ehhhhh. But the best part of the trailer was what they didn’t show. They didn’t reveal the big villain which I won’t mention in case you don’t know who it is, but if you do know, you should be happy they didn’t show him in his main form.
