The official teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has hit the webs after fans and journalists at Star Wars Celebration got to witness it the same time we did. We saw the title and red font of the logo earlier in the year which left us speculating like we always do. Who’s dying and why are the Jedi on their last leg? My guess was always that my sweet wife Rey (Daisy Ridley) would turn evil – they say marriage does that – and that even though Kylo Ren seems to be the most evil, I feel like Luke knows the dark side can take her as well.
Rian Johnson (Looper, Brick) looks like he directed the crap out of this one. With the few opening shots looking worthy of being framed on walls without ever seeing robots or spaceships says a lot. As the red letters and endless speculation eluded too, this is going to be a dramatic, grim tale from what I’m seeing.
I think there’s a lot to be excited about with this upcoming sequel and Rian Johnson holds the key to it’s success if you ask me. I think J.J. Abrams was a great director to bring us into the world safely yet again without fears of too much this or too little that, he hit the Goldielox zone where it was just right for all fans to be back in a galaxy far far away. Now, Rian Johnson can hopefully bring us his Empire Strikes Back in this new trilogy while breaking away from the possible stigmas that The Force Awakens carries while having us be able to see The Last Jedi truly as it’s own movie.
