Whether you liked, disliked or haven’t seen Snowpiercer, you know that it’s a film you have to at least attempt to see because there’s a crap ton of noteworthy things to discuss. Director Bong Joon Ho returns to Netflix with another original film that stars Tilda Swinton in what appears to be another social commentary on a topic that should effect most people with souls, the bonds between animals and people.
It doesn’t seem to be that simple of course, with that CGI beast next to some little girl, and I’m not convinced that that supposed pig that is OKJA will be just some ordinary pig. My first thought after Swinton’s scenes were of Spirited Away or something of that nature, but one thing’s for certain, this is going to be worth waiting for.
Original, above middle budget film-making is finally making a home for itself at Netflix’s instant queue which presents notable stars and film makers to let their stories be told on a platform that gives them freedom and backing that they need to bring these films to life. I’m fascinated to see where this goes.
