We don’t get to see the iconic actor in movies much anymore, more often we will see him court-side at Lakers games or somewhere on TMZ, but never actually in movies. That’s what happens when you have so much clout as an actor that you have the ability to pick and choose your projects. What appears to be the next film for Nicholson and will also star Kristen Wiig as confirmed by Variety.
Toni Erdmann is 2016 German film that reads as, “a practical joking father who tries to reconnect with his hard working daughter by creating an outrageous alter ego and posing as her CEO’s life coach,” which is the official logline for the film. The original film was nominated for Best-Foreign Language Film at the Oscars this year and is supposedly one of Nicholson’s favorites of last year.
With the stars of the film in place, the rest of the pieces need to be confirmed for the project. So far, no director or writer has come on board for the Paramount remake, but with people like Wiig and Nicholson on board it won’t be difficult to find someone to bring the story to life.
There are big name producers attached to the film such as director Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, and writer/director of the original film Maren Ade.
