Shane Black is one of the most underrated filmmakers in Hollywood and it’s been proven with the financial disappointment that the outstanding The Nice Guys was. Black is returning to the franchise that he acted in many years ago, but this time as the director and a now bolstered cast.
Joining Boyd Holbrook and Olivia Munn will be none other than funny man Keegan-Michael Key from Key and Peele fame. It’s cool to see the return of two iconic sci-fi/action franchises such as Alien: Covenant and now Predators which both can hopefully bring back and add the things we loved from the original films.
Another name possibly being added to the film is Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes as an ex-marine, because, what is a Predator film without some marines?
The question now revolves around what type of role Key will be taking on. Shane Black is a terrific comedy director and has proven to incorporate the perfect amount in each of his films whether written or directed. For Key, it could be interesting to see where his range as both a comedic and dramatic actor falls after his unspecified role.
