Oh video game movies, how you break us down only to try your best to build us back up. Sure, we’ve been given good casts for these possible video game adaptations, but they just never seem to make the cut above even mediocre. What happens when you cast one of the hottest actresses (in more ways than one) to play an iconic character like Lara Croft in a version of her character that will be a female version of Indiana Jones? You get potential. What happens when you get a Tarantino stable actor for the villain? Even more potential.
Walton Goggins is one of those character actors whose face you will always recognize, but may not know his name. Thankfully, that’s been changing with his work with director Quentin Tarantino for Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.
Goggins in both films mentioned is exceptional as the antagonistic side character in more ways than one and he presents an eerie, but darkly charming sense to his roles when in that position.
The game’s reboot presented a perfect time it’s films to follow suit in the reboot department which garnered an OScar winner and world renound Norwegian director in Roar Uthaug. Warner Bros., along MGM and GK Films will develop the film and take away the campiness of the original films with Angelina Jolie.
