The Franchise Viagra Is Working His Magic In The Official ‘Baywatch’ Trailer – Trailer Review

King Midus — oh I’m sorry, Dwayne Johnson — is seriously the coolest. He brings that wrestler’s charisma and energy to nearly every project he touches while somehow making less than stellar ideas seem totally awesome. Baywatch is far from a property I could give two shits about, but from what I saw with the clips of Zac Efron, The Rock himself, Alexandra Daddario, and all the other beautiful people, this looks way better than it deserves.

For the longest time, I was expecting strictly a cliched raunchy comedy, and it may be just that, but the fact that the comedy was far more clever made everything flow together nicely. It was smart to center around The Rock instead of Zac Efron as the beautiful douche (again) because it presents a bit of a 21 Jump Street vibe to it rather than a Dirty Grandpa feel.

Sure, the story may follow tropes of other modern comedies, but that doesn’t mean it’s self aware humor won’t work to it’s advantage. The final scenes of the trailer are what sold me on the movie coming out, but I just pray that they didn’t give all the funny parts in the trailer like so many films before it. Regardless, for a trailer that wasn’t even Red Band, there was some really good stuff in here without aggressively throwing the raunch at us like pitchers.
