And you guys thought Doctor Strange was nice to look at…
The Fifth Element may be one of my favorite and imaginative science fiction films of all time, Chris Tucker included, and that’s thanks to the visionary style of director Luc Besson. Since Comic-Con, the buzz when it comes to trailers was always this one, a gorgeous, original, and endlessly dazzling look into imagination of sci-fi storytelling. The premise is as follows:
Special operatives Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) maintain order throughout the universe for the government of the human territories. Under orders from their commander (Clive Owen), the duo embark on a mission to Alpha, an intergalactic city where diverse species share their technology and resources for the betterment of all. The ever-expanding metropolis is also home to sinister forces that jeopardize the future of mankind.
What that translates too is constant fun and eclectic visual splendor. Hopefully this is going to be more like The Fifth Element instead of Lucy because that sh** was horrible if you ask me, but Besson is no stranger to the insanely bizarre through his genre picture and his risk taking is exciting to see unfold. Dane Dehaan is one of those actors that you know is great, but just needs to break into that one role for everyone to know his name, Cara Delevingne has shown she has potential as well. 2017 can’t come soon enough!
