I feel like science-fiction is really starting to emerge from the caverns of space and intellectually sound minds of filmmakers because these trailers are everywhere. Like most of these projects, I had no clue they were even coming. Life stars a collection of great actors that include Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ariyon Bakari, and Hiroyuki Sanada.
The trailer sells the film as Gravity meets Alien and Prometheus from some of those shots of the station tearing to pieces and even the tension built up between the crew members after the alien life form seems to take over one of the member’s arm.
It’s a vague concept that we’ve seen before, but with the writers being the ones who brought us Deadpool, I’d hope there’s some creative storytelling to be had. Sure, they can be funny as hell, but at the end of the day, Deadpool doesn’t need a serious narrative to be a good film. I’d hope the film is written well enough to bring something to the table and if it was able to attract this kind of talent I’d imagine it’s got at least it’s fair share of potential.
