After the success of Deadpool earlier this year, it was clear that the film was going to get a sequel, heck, Deadpool himself said that we would at the end of the movie. The big news was that within the film Deadpool himself stated that Cable would be making an appearance, but a character he didn’t mention (I don’t think) was Cable’s comic book partner Domino. The shortlist of actresses has been released for the character and you can’t go wrong with any of them.
Domino is a mutant herself that through comics shares a comedic history with Deadpool and normally a partner based relationship with Cable, but she has also been shown to be romantically involved with Cable in the past. Her power as a mutant is totally weird and hard to explain, but to paraphrase it for all of us, she telekinetically helps situations go in her favor…yeah.
The list includes:
- Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire)
- Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black)
- Eve Hewson (The Knick)
- Kelly Rohrbach (Baywatch)
- Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex)
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane)
- Sienna Miller (American Sniper)
- Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond)
- Stephanie Sigman (Spectre)
- Sylvia Hoeks(Overspel)
With this list of women, you can’t go wrong with any of them, but the standouts for most people, including myself this time, have to be Lizzy Caplan and Mary Elizabeth Winstead due to their range and comedic timing overall. The dark horse picks have to be Sofia Boutella and Eve Hewson, but I imagine that people would pull for Ruby Rose.
Any of these women could play Domino and bring something unique to it, but like all characters, I want them to be able to steal scenes and hold their own and Ryan Reynolds’ kinetic energy and comedy is nothing short of impressive it will take an actress with serious chemistry with him and the man they cast as Cable to earn the role.
