Ryan Coogler seems to be getting every bit of black talent he can for this film, but that’s far from a complaint. I would hope a character that deals with African characters (though fictional) would have at least a majority black cast and that seems to be the case thus far. With Chadwick Boseman coming back as King T’Challa aka Black Panther and the cast having brought on Coogler’s right hand man Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya and Florence Kasumba.
Whitaker is no stranger to portraying a convincing African figure as shown in his Oscar winning portrayal of the insane dictator Idi Amin.
Whitaker will portray elder statesman Zuri in the film and will be seen next in Denis Villenueve’s next film Arrival with Amy Adams as well as Disney’s next Star Wars film Rogue One.
