Some breaking news in the comic book movie world as Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman has left Fox’s Gambit movie to direct DC and Warner Brothers’ Justice League Dark.
The Gambit film seems to have been a mess before it even started. After hearing of it’s budget being north of $150 million at one point, directors left the project like this was the remake of The Crow and now it’s lost another, but that’s good news for Justice League Dark fans.
Guillermo del Toro was originally on board to likely direct the film, but you know del Toro, always wanting to direct stuff even when his schedule’s full. With Liman on board, you can expect a great action film, but hopefully some more quality narrative in the film as well. The action isn’t where the DC films have lacked, but in their stories and let’s hope Liman can do what he did with Edge of Tomorrow while adding a bit of a creepy, horror element to it.
With Justice League Dark now slowly taking shape, maybe we will finally see the unusual characters such as Constantine (again), Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Etrigan, and Deadman among others. Let’s see what happens in the weird side of DC’s slate of films.
