It’s hard not to see Margot Robbie more and more in the mainstream of cinema, and if you’re already sick of her (shame) then buckle up knuckle head because here’s some more news about her next project. Two time Olympian and figure skater Tonya Harding is nothing shy of crazy and her scandal has fallen in infamy in the sports world when Harding attacked her long time rival Nancy Kerrigan in the early 90’s.
This is a film that has been lost in a list of films wanting to be produced, but it has risen like a weed and has it’s star and director set to take on the film that will titled I, Tonya.
The film will be directed by Craig Gillespie, director of films such as Million Dollar Arm and Lars and the Real Girl. His new star Margot Robbie can be seen next in Suicide Squad and The Legend of Tarzan as Tarzan’s love interest Jane. Robbie will get some practice as an unstable blonde when we see her as Harley Quinn for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad so it seems like the logical choice and high quality fit. They even look alike to some degree, though Amy Adams would have been my choice just from talent and look alone.
Harding may not be as familiar a name to younger audiences, but assuming the film is PG-13 and not Rated-R – for possible language and sexual content if they go into the sex-tape scandal – there will be a younger audience who may not know about this once heralded skater.
