All Female Ocean’s 11 Could Add Cate Blanchett

Do I want an Ocean’s 11 remake with an all women cast? No, I could care less to be perfectly honest, but your next question to me should be if I love Cate Blanchett. Yes, I do, and it’s not difficult to see why. The woman is arguably the best living actress if some chick named Meryl Streep didn’t exist, but even then I think I want Blanchett on my fantasy team.

Quite a few strong names have come up for this lady filled remake of the heist film that regained popularity as the early 2000’s heist film starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, but now it’s the girl’s turn. Sandra Bullock is also set to star in the film as well as rumors of Jennifer Lawrence joining the cast, but that’s denied by her people.

Like the other films in the Ocean’s trilogy, they are star studded events with nearly every actor you can think of putting in a comedic heist film and I can’t imagine this following a different formula. The two names brought up not including Lawrence (because she’s more a rumor than anything at this point) are powerful names to say the least and seeing Bullock with Blanchett would already be enough to sell us on the project, but like Ghostbusters, there will be plenty of hate for the all women cast, and I hate to admit it, but I see some of your frustration.

I think remaking films with all women is dumb. It’s a disservice to the actors like Blanchett and Bullock when they can’t just have their own original and respected franchises of their own and not have to worry about piggy backing on the title of a film like this. Gary Ross will be directing the film which could still bring in Lawrence to the cast since Ross directed her in The Hunger Games.
