The talk of Sundance was Nate Parker’s directorial debut in the Nat Turner film that garnered the largest buy from a festival film in history and it shows why Fox Searchlight paid the fee.
Nate Parker is an unsung talent in Hollywood and proved to us that he is an artist with more than just acting chops and a pretty face by delivering one of the most talked about films at Sundance depicting the slave revolt of real-life literate slave Nat Turner and his uprising against his “masters”.
This trailer alone packed a huge punch to the gut of its audience including myself and I expect it will only hit harder once I see the whole film. Beautifully captured with a blue tint to the visual style makes for a visceral viewing pleasure in just two minutes. Parker stars in the film and brings on Jackie Earl Haley, Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, and will see his film release in theaters October 7th, 2016 smack dab in Oscar season.
If this film is anything like its trailer, expect tears, frustration, and vengeance to flow through your body like the blood on the leaves…
