Wow, this is a great casting pick and equally as shocking. There was little known about who would still be alive in this DC Cinematic Universe Zack Snyder is attempting to bring to life, but it looks like don’t have to worry about seeing a gravestone that says Commissioner Gordon on it. The Oscar-winning actor has made a rise into the social conscious through his roles as J. Jonah Jamison in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films and his award winning turn as an abusive music teacher in Whiplash.
Justice League: Part I will begin shooting this April and it looks like we are about to find out who the heck will show up. The last time we saw Gordon in a film was the subtle performance by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.
With the assembling of the Justice League soon upon us, we will likely have a majority of the heavy hitters, not including Green Lantern as of now, but Gordon was always one of the many characters people asked about after discovering that Batman would be older and more broken than we’ve seen him. Simmons will be flawless in his turn as yet another excellently written and well loved character in a comic-book movie, but it may spell the end of the rumors of him coming back as J. Jonah in any Spider-Man movies of the near future.
