Talk about confidence in a property. They play “Bohemian Rhapsody” in a trailer once and they have the balls of Freddie Mercury. Not that I’m complaining, I love Queen, and I love when film makers and studios know what they have with a property to get the wheels going right away. David Ayer is directing the villain-centric comic book adaptation from DC Comics and features an array of talent that include the likes of Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Common, Jai Courtney, and Jared Leto as the infamous Joker.
The film does not hit theaters until August 5th, but reports are going around claiming the film will begin shooting the sequel to the film as soon as next year, but are we really surprised. No matter how good or bad this film might be (and I don’t think it will be bad), we live in a world where sequels get green-lit almost immediately without ever seeing the reactions of the fans and critics, this is no different.
It’s likely the film’s biggest star and apparent leader of the “Squad” – Will Smith as Deadshot – will return to reprise his role as the sharp shooting assassin with a heart of gold when it comes to family, but that’s not confirmed.
