Pacific Rim 2 Is Back On the Shelf Without Guillermo del Toro

Guillermo del Toro is a fan favorite within the film community for his colorful abilities when creating worlds in movies and one of his most liked films in recent years has been the Kaiju flick Pacific Rim that looked to be as dead in the water as the monsters themselves. Thankfully a resurgence of the property has come into effect only without the famed director behind the camera. Instead, Legendary Pictures has chosen someone else to pilot this Yeager of a film with Steven DeKnight as the pilot.

DeKnight has been the show-runner for hit TV series such as Daredevil for Netflix and Sparticus for Starz. This would be his directorial debut and no further news is circling del Toro’s involvement with the film.

I am one of the people that found Pacific Rim to be one of the most enjoyable films I’ve seen in a long time and that’s due to the creativity and spectacle that del Toro was able to bring to the movie. Without him, and replacing him with a green director concerns, but I will hold out hope. The film will be written by Prometheus and the upcoming Doctor Strange scribe Jon Spaihts.

You excited?!
