The Long Awaited Trailer For Ken Watanaby & Matthew McConaughey’s ‘Sea of Trees’ (2016) Has FINALLY Surfaced…From Japan

Yes I know it’s in Japanese but that’s all we have right now. The dialogue is still in English though.

Sea of Trees was last spoken about when it came out of Sundance and Cannes in 2014 with a horrendously negative reaction from the fans taking on an ocean of boos and negative press, and since then, the film has been on the shelf until now with the first trailer being revealed to the public.

The film is coming from Gus Van Sant, director of such hits like Good Will Hunting (an all time favorite of mine) and Milk with Sean Penn. Van Sant is seen as a pioneer and highly respected film maker with the flood of the “New Queer Movement” and tends to hit topical subcultures and their presence in the world through his well done stories.

Sea of Trees is a story about two men who by fate meet each other in what is known as the Suicide Forest at the bottom of Mount Fuji in Japan only to find reasons to live blah blah blah. Look, I still want to see this movie, but I can only wonder why people hated it so much. Does it sound like many stories we’ve seen? Sure, but I’d hope all this talent didn’t end up making a film that I’d likely boo at.

I have no idea when this comes out, but when I find that date I’ll be sure to let you all know.
