The award winning director of Point Break, The Hurt Locker, and Zero Dark Thirty may just have her next project. There is no name for the “true crime drama” but she will be behind the camera as well as producing the film.
In the summer of 1967, Detroit was victim to some of the more infamous riots in American history that proved that racism will and has been rampant in our country for far too long, and the film will likely encapsulate that very theme.
A producer of the film – Mark Boal – has supposedly been researching for this project for over a year. Boal wrote Bigelow’s last two middle eastern war films, The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, and helped Bigelow to become the only female director to win Best Director at the Academy Awards (sheesh).
The film begins shooting at an undisclosed time this summer of 2016.
